As an Accountant, you’ll play a key role in managing our day-to-day accounting operations, supporting scalable processes, and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance as Mongoose grows. If you love finding clarity in the numbers, building efficient systems, and turning financial data into actionable insight, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do:
Manage the Financial Backbone
- Oversee vendor and credit card spend controls, reviewing card activity, enforcing limits, and assisting in AP prioritization
- Enter and code AP invoices with accuracy and clarity, ensuring alignment with departmental budgets
- Track departmental budgets within our credit card system, flagging category-level trends and spend alignment
Strengthen Operational Foundations
- Respond to vendor inquiries, resolve invoice issues, and support timely payment communication
- Track and manage vendor contract renewals to ensure seamless continuity and compliance
- Own portions of the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and GL review
Drive Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Support internal reporting through formatting, variance analysis, and cleanup of legacy transactions
- Prepare and file accurate sales tax returns (monthly, quarterly, or annually) in compliance with state and local requirements
- Organize and document recurring accounting workflows, identifying bottlenecks and proposing improvements
Be a Trusted Collaborator
- Partner with internal stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to streamline reporting and billing alignment
- Coordinate with external vendors, auditors, and tax advisors to ensure readiness and documentation
- Maintain clear escalation paths for financial blockers, vendor issues, and audit preparation
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Accounting Expertise with a Scalable Mindset
- 3–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or high-growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and month-end close processes
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems preferred
Master of the Details
- Proficiency in Excel for reconciliations and reporting
- Demonstrated accuracy in GL coding, vendor categorization, and journal entry preparation
- Experience tracking spend and renewals without centralized tools or alerts
Independent & Analytical Thinker
- Ability to prioritize tasks independently in a lean team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the confidence to propose automation or workflow improvements
- Comfortable juggling foundational operations and strategic process cleanup
Organized Communicator & Collaborator
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to explain finance concepts to non-finance stakeholders clearly and confidently
- Proven success supporting cross-functional teams with timely and reliable financial insight

The salary range for this role is $86,000-$100,000.
