Join us and be part of a team that’s making a real difference in education—one conversation at a time.

As Controller, you’ll be the financial maestro orchestrating Mongoose’s success. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our VP of FP&A to ensure every contract, invoice, and dollar flows seamlessly through our fast-growing SaaS business. This isn’t just about balancing numbers—it’s about driving impact. From keeping our revenue operations razor-sharp to building processes that scale, you’ll be the go-to person for ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and innovation. If you’re excited about taking ownership, solving complex challenges, and helping us level up, this is the role for you!

What You’ll Do:

Own the Numbers Like a Boss

  • Team up with the VP of FP&A to keep Mongoose’s financial engine running smoothly, from forecasting to reporting and everything in between.
  • Take charge of accounts receivable, ensuring invoices go out on time, payments come in faster than expected, and past-due clients hear from you before they’ve had their morning coffee.
  • Conduct monthly audits to keep our financial systems (HubSpot, QuickBooks, and beyond) in perfect harmony—because your attention to detail is next level.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Be the Contract Whisperer

  • Prep, edit, and finalize contracts with precision, ensuring every deal is airtight and aligned with company standards.
  • Work closely with the revenue team on renewals, expansions, upsells, and all things deal-related—your magic touch ensures no detail is missed.
  • Know when to make approved edits and when to call in reinforcements (a.k.a. escalate to the VP of FP&A).

Keep the Revenue Wheels Turning

  • Manage all invoicing for executed contracts, ensuring clients are billed correctly and invoices are sent to the right people at the right time.
  • Serve as the ultimate guardian of HubSpot deal data—every entry you touch is accurate, up-to-date, and ready for action.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve cash flow and client payment timelines because you know that smooth revenue operations = business success.

Be a Strategic Finance Hero

  • Support special projects like creating annual reports of sales by state, refining operational systems, and helping the VP of FP&A with killer financial insights.
  • Keep Happeo (and other operational tools) up-to-date and humming along as part of your quest for ultimate efficiency.
  • Be a sounding board for new ideas, always looking for ways to optimize processes and improve how we do things.
  • Oversee cash flow management to ensure liquidity and optimize working capital.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

Finance Skills with a Dash of Magic

  • You’ve got 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related role, and you know your way around contracts, invoicing, and revenue systems like the back of your hand.
  • QuickBooks? HubSpot? Excel? You’re not just proficient—you’re a wizard.

Process Obsessed (in a Good Way)

  • You see inefficiencies like a hawk and know exactly how to fix them. Whether it’s streamlining invoicing or tightening up deal workflows, you love making things run better and faster.

Data Lover, Detail Freak

  • Numbers don’t lie, and neither do you. Your data is clean, your reports are accurate, and your attention to detail borders on legendary.

Collaborative & Adaptable

  • You’re a team player who thrives in cross-functional environments, building relationships with everyone from revenue pros to product leaders.
  • Change doesn’t faze you—in fact, you embrace it with a smile and a plan.

Personality (Yes, It Matters!)

  • You bring positive energy and enthusiasm to the table, making you a joy to work with—even when crunching numbers.
  • Your emails? Friendly. Your meetings? Efficient and engaging. Your vibe? All about getting it done, but with a touch of fun
