At Mongoose, we empower colleges and universities through our intuitive, AI-driven engagement platform built to boost authentic connections with students, parents, and alumni.
As our VP of Revenue, you’ll work closely with a dedicated and experienced strategic leadership team to guide Mongoose through a period of significant growth and transformation. With ambitious goals and a roadmap that is being thoughtfully crafted for the future, we are advancing our go-to-market strategy and need a leader who can help shape and drive this evolution. Reporting directly to the President, this role requires not just deep expertise in revenue strategy but also the ability to build and develop high-performing teams and leaders who can execute at the ground level. If you’re ready to bring thoughtful leadership, strategic insights, and the ability to balance vision with operational excellence, we’d love to have you on our team to make a real impact in higher education.
What You’ll Do:
Revenue Leadership & Strategy
- You’ll lead the charge in shaping and driving our revenue strategy, steering Mongoose through a time of growth and transformation. Your vision will define how we reach new markets, deepen relationships with existing clients, and expand our impact.
- As we refine our go-to-market strategy, you’ll be the driving force behind how we position ourselves for the future. You’ll help shape our evolving roadmap, ensuring that our revenue initiatives not only align with our bold goals but also push the boundaries of what’s possible.
- You’ll lead with insight, using real-time data and market trends to adjust course when needed and to spot opportunities others might miss. Every decision you make will be backed by thoughtful analysis, driving both immediate results and long-term growth.
- With your strategic mindset, you’ll empower our teams to execute at the highest level, balancing big-picture thinking with tactical precision. You’ll build the frameworks that allow us to optimize pricing, improve forecasting, and innovate in ways that keep us ahead of the curve.
Sales Leadership
- You won’t just manage a team—you’ll inspire them. As our VP of Revenue, you’ll cultivate a high-performance culture where every member of the sales team feels empowered to excel. Your leadership will set the tone, pushing boundaries while fostering an environment of trust and accountability.
- You’ll own the metrics—both input and output—that drive the engine of our sales pipeline. You’ll establish and monitor the key indicators that ensure the foundational building blocks for growth are solidly in place, from lead generation to deal closure.
- With a focus on discipline and consistency, you’ll provide the sales team with a best practices playbook that sets them up for success. You’ll instill the structure and processes needed for the team to not only hit but exceed their targets.
- Your approach will be built on rigorous tracking and improvement, constantly refining strategies to ensure optimal performance and alignment with our broader revenue goals. Your ability to drive excellence through data, accountability, and proven practices will empower your team to thrive.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- You’ll be the bridge between Sales and Marketing, ensuring that both teams are aligned not just on goals, but on the tactical execution of go-to-market strategies. You’ll work closely with marketing to ensure the sales team has the insights, data, and collateral they need to close deals, while also ensuring that feedback from sales is integrated into marketing campaigns, content strategies, and lead generation efforts.
- Collaboration with the Product team will be dynamic and strategic. You’ll ensure your team communicates real-time market feedback, competitive analysis, and customer insights to influence product development. In return, you’ll help your sales team deeply understand product features, use cases, and future innovations, ensuring they’re equipped to position Mongoose solutions with precision and confidence in the market.
- You’ll foster a culture of collaboration within your own revenue team, ensuring that sales and client success are fully integrated. This goes beyond seamless handoffs—it’s about ensuring that both teams are aligned on client goals from the start, working together to drive long-term customer success and retention. By creating feedback loops between sales and client success, you’ll ensure that client insights are used to improve both the sales process and post-sale engagement strategies.
- You’ll champion the use of shared data and KPIs across all teams to ensure transparency and alignment. Your focus on continuous improvement will ensure that cross-functional teams are not only meeting current goals but constantly refining and evolving their strategies to maximize revenue and client satisfaction.
Client Growth & Retention
- You’ll lead strategies to grow and nurture client relationships, maximizing lifetime value through deep engagement, satisfaction, and long-term partnerships.
- You’ll work with your sales and client success leaders to proactively address risks and opportunities, creating plans to reduce churn and drive upsell opportunities, ensuring clients consistently see increasing value from Mongoose.
- You’ll ensure a seamless handoff from sales to post-sale, aligning efforts to exceed client expectations and drive retention and expansion.
- You’ll build strong, lasting relationships with key clients, leveraging their feedback to continuously improve both our offerings and how we deliver value, positioning Mongoose as a vital partner.
- Through data-driven insights, you’ll monitor client health, refine retention strategies, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
At Mongoose, we believe in creating a culture where every team member feels supported, challenged, and empowered to grow. As our VP of Revenue, you’ll not only bring strategic insights and leadership, but you’ll also champion a work environment where empathy, accountability, and adaptability are at the core of everything we do.
- A Visionary Mindset & Strategic Expertise: You excel at seeing the big picture and understanding the forces that drive long-term success. You’ve led organizations through growth by shaping transformative go-to-market strategies, identifying new revenue streams, and driving market expansion—especially in selling to higher education institutions. Your expertise lies in strategic planning, positioning for competitive advantage, and guiding the company through pivotal changes. As a trusted leader, you bring foresight, guiding the team through both the challenges and opportunities that come with growth and transformation.
- Empowering Leadership: You don’t just lead—you develop leaders. You know how to inspire high-performing teams by focusing on growing individuals, creating a leadership pipeline that drives success from the ground up. You’ll leverage your 7-10 years of senior revenue or sales leadership experience to guide your team to exceed ambitious targets.
- Collaboration at the Core: Your cross-functional collaboration skills go beyond strategy—you form meaningful relationships with marketing and product to ensure alignment across the board. You’ll help develop go-to-market strategies and identify opportunities that support company-wide goals. You see the power in working together to deliver results that are greater than the sum of their parts.
- Impact-Driven & Data-Informed: Every decision you make is grounded in data-driven insights, but it’s the impact on people that drives you. You understand the importance of using key metrics across revenue performance, sales forecasting, and customer insights to guide your strategy. You’re motivated by seeing the success of your team and clients alike, and you’re always looking for ways to create remarkable outcomes.
- Values-Led Leadership: You lead with empathy, creating a culture where everyone feels heard and valued. You hold yourself and others accountable, not just for the results, but for how those results are achieved. Adaptability is in your DNA, and you embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, pushing boundaries to achieve what others might deem impossible. You believe in making Mongoose a remarkable place to work, and you’ll carry that vision in everything you do.
- Strong Business Acumen & Revenue Focus: You understand the complex nature of revenue management in a B2B SaaS business. Your expertise in subscription-based revenue models, maximizing customer lifetime value (CLV), reducing churn, and scaling go-to-market strategies equips you to make informed decisions that drive profitability and sustained growth. You excel at balancing growth with unit economics, ensuring that Mongoose remains competitive while maintaining strong margins.
