Vice President of Marketing

As our VP of Marketing, you’ll work closely with a dedicated and experienced strategic leadership team to take Mongoose to its next level, shaping our go-to-market strategy and helping us reach new levels of growth. Reporting directly to the President, this pivotal role demands not just extensive strategic marketing expertise but also fearless leadership to guide and inspire our talented team to meet its endless potential. What You’ll Do:

Strategic Planning
  • Development, implementation, and ongoing management of a strategic marketing and communications plan, to include master brand awareness, product-specific promotion and marketing strategies, client nurturing strategies, inbound/content strategy, and industry-based public relations
  • Elevate beyond conventional marketing boundaries and spearhead a company-wide cultural shift, ensuring every team member embraces their pivotal role in our Go-to-Market machinery.
Marketing Leadership & Expertise
  • Empower and inspire your team to greatness by providing actionable guidance for all marketing initiatives, internally for direct reports and externally for vendors and partners
  • Forge a powerful alliance with the VP of Revenue, ensuring seamless alignment between the Revenue and Marketing departments, and equipping the Revenue team with the tools, campaigns, and insights needed to convert leads into loyal customers.
  • Establish a strategic partnership with the VP of Product to facilitate a deep understanding within the product team of market realities, consumer demands, and SWOT analysis. Collaborate closely to ensure seamless communication of product roadmap strategy, empowering the marketing team to drive pre-release adoption and generate interest, and maximize market impact.
  • Drive implementation of marketing campaigns to meet business objectives, drive leads, and encourage customer retention
  • With an eye on optimization, meticulously monitor the performance of marketing initiatives, pivoting and refining strategies as needed to maximize impact. Deliver reports and presentations on marketing metrics, arming the management team with invaluable insights into our marketing trajectory.
  • Develop sales enablement initiatives leveraging expertise of the relevant buyer personas
  • Maintain and evolve brand position, personality and standards while ensuring compliance across all marketing and communications channels
  • Identify competitors and evaluate their strategies and positioning
  • Develop, review, and manage the Marketing department’s budget
  • Drive continual process improvement and implement best practices to ensure departmental efficiency
  • Provide guidance and ideas to organize effective marketing events
  • Build relationships with media and stakeholders through creative PR strategies
  • Direct and support market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data for short- and long-term market forecasts and reports
  • Manage the workflow of a team of 4 direct reports
  • Collaborate with and inspire direct reports to identify and achieve their goals on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations to ensure that team members are progressing in their roles, have access to professional development opportunities, mentorship, and training, and are consistently receiving performance feedback.
  • Expertly facilitate cross-departmental alignment, helping Mongoose to elevate its strategic approach to all business but especially to current client growth
  • Actively participate as a member of the company leadership team, including meeting periodically, contributing to major company initiatives, and weighing in on company operational and growth decisions.
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual planning of the company’s objectives
  • Build long-term relationships with employees, clients, and stakeholders


What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Experience in a similar leadership role as a VP or Head of Marketing and 7-10 years of marketing generalist experience in the Higher Education or EdTech industry
  • Confidence and empathy as a leader who understands that leading a team is not a one-size-fits-all approach
  • An ability to inspire and motivate others toward a common goal
  • Be a self-directed, resourceful individual, with the ability to make difficult decisions
  • A strategic mindset that combines long-term vision, analytical and forward-thinking, alignment with mission and values, risk management, innovation and adaptation.
  • Superior communication skills that highlight clarity, empathy, adaptability, transparency as well as inspire and influence others.
  • Extremely comfortable in a fast-paced environment where change is frequent
  • Demonstrable experience leading and growing integrated marketing teams
  • Demonstrable experience leading and growing current client growth initiatives *This one’s a biggie!*
  • Demonstrable experience planning and executing complex brand and product marketing initiatives
  • Experience working in or with fast-growing companies
